Phi Mu raises spirits and funds for CMN Hospitals at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital

The Phi Mu chapters at the University of Florida and Florida State University engaged their communities this fall to help raise funds for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital.

On Oct. 1, Phi Mu at UF hosted “Waffles for Wishes” at their chapter house, teaming up with Chi Phi fraternity. Guests were able to enjoy a waffle bar with an array of breakfast items from 8-11 p.m., and proceeds from the event went towards CMN Hospitals at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital. Through the event, members will be able to brighten the lives of UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital patients by transforming their rooms into personalized, comforting spaces. At the event’s conclusion, Phi Mu announced that they had raised $11,123 for the children’s hospital.

Later in the month, on Oct. 24, Phi Mu at FSU held their annual “Phi Fest,” a festival-style event with food and attractions to benefit CMN at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital. With over 1,000 people in attendance, highlights included a chance to “pie a Phi” and live music. Phi Mu at FSU was also thrilled to collaborate with Kendra Scott, enewton, and jellycat brands.

To round out the fall philanthropic efforts, Valdosta State’s Phi Mu chapter will host their first-ever Phi Mu Pickleball Tournaments on Saturday, Nov. 2. Set to be held at McKey Park in Valdosta, Ga., the event will be an all doubles, double-elimination bracket.

Since 1986, Phi Mu has been a committed partner of CMN Hospitals, raising over $20 million. CMN at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital is grateful for the dedication of local Phi Mu chapters, including their involvement with organizations such as Dance Marathon who also support CMN efforts, as they continue to envision a healthier future for children.
