99.5 La Ley Hosts Radiothon December 14-15

On December 14-15, 99.5 La Ley at Glades Media will raise funds on-air for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital. Since 2012, Glades Media has raised $409,456 for Children’s Miracle Network at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital. 99.5 La Ley at Glades Media Hispanic Radiothon is a two-day fundraising event for UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital, their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. 99.5 La Ley Hispanic Radiothon is the only radiothon for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital.

Last year alone, the event raised over $148,000, which was a 70% increase from the 2015 total. During the Radiothon, on-air talent will ask for donations every hour. Miracle stories of families who are impacted by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals are also broadcasted on the air.

The team from Glades Media visited UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital prior to their radiothon this year to get an inside look at how their funds impact the many pediatric patients there.

Funds from Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals benefit the areas of greatest need at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital. These areas include supporting impactful programs such as Child Life and Arts in Medicine, transformational research, and lifesaving medical equipment.

In 2016, 99.5 La Ley was recognized as the winner of “Hispanic Radiothon of the Year” by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. They were chosen out of all the radio stations who partner with 170 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals throughout the U.S. and Canada.
